JTB began in 1912 as Japan Tourist Bureau, Japan's first travel agency.
It became an independent company, JTB Inc., in 1963. In the following year - the year of the Tokyo Olympics - JTB introduced English guided tours within Japan for foreign visitors: "Sunrise Tours". This brand still offers one of the most popular and highly-regarded range of tours for overseas visitors to Japan.

The JTB Group of companies now numbers around 150 enterprises operating in various travel-related businesses, from tour operation to insurance, travel-related supplies and publishing.

JTB Corp. remains the largest travel agency in Japan, with its Head office in Tokyo, over 300 branches throughout Japan and around 70 offices overseas.

We also act as agents for licensed tour operators; the relevant ATOL number is displayed with each ATOL holiday shown. The flight bookings we make are also ATOL Protected, except when tickets for scheduled flights are sent to you within 24 hours of payment being accepted, or where your payment is made direct to airlines. ATOL Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in the United Kingdom.
